What Is The Best Antivirus Home Computer Program Out There That Won’t Dramatically Slow Down My Computer?

I’m looking for a good program (I’m not looking for FREE) I don’t mind paying, but I would like to regain some speed back.

I have recently read many reviews about the AVG antivirus program which is free and I haven’t found many negative comments about it. Does anyone have experience with AVG?
