If I Do A System Recovery Will I Lose All My Personal Data? Ie: Pictures, Music?
Posted on November 21st, 2009 6 commentsdepends which recovery console you are using.
Most likely yes.
But isn’t it best to always back up first?
you can always use acronis true image to make an image of your entire disk and save it to an external source. make a bootable rescue disk then recover your computer and if you lose everything then just use the acronis boot cd you make through the program to reinstall the image to the drive so you will have everything back again.
a little bit longer this way if you lose everything, but it takes no time to make the image of the disk and only takes around 15 minutes to restore the image.
I am using windows xp and made a boot disk with a hard drive image and I never have to re-install my operating system.
I just re load the image and the drive gets formatted along the way through.
So it’s the same as a clean install but you can keep all your drivers without chasing them down again because you install all drivers and get updates before you make the image.
and you can always add to the image too so when you restore the image you can get the latest updates and never have to download those again either because you have added them to the latest image right?
so when people are spending hours installing windows and drivers.
mine are always there and my operating system install is less then 30 mins for a clean install.
I forgot to say that link is to a trial ony but you can add to an image or restore an image through the boot disk anytime.
You only really need to purchase if you want support or you wanna keep the program.

No you won’t. With recovery all your documents & files will be backed up, they will be in your C drive called “My Backup” files. You will, however, have to reinstall most programs that you had added, and update your windows.
